Quotations are hereby requested for site preparation for a simulation hub at the Faculty of Port Terminals and Marine, Bayhead Campus in KwaZulu Natal on a once off basis. Scope of works: • Computer raised floor: Install anti static computer flooring in all designated simulator rooms and ensure the area under the raised floors is thoroughly cleaned, • Electrical: Ensure Power available is within the Voltage limits: 110V AC ±10V AC RMS Single phase or 230V AC ±10V AC RMS Frequency: 50 Hz or 60 Hz ±0.5 Hz. Position Power outlets. Fuses must comply with the KDI equipment power consumption table as outline in power requirements document. All outlets must be of the grounded type, • Local Area Network (LAN): Install LAN outlets. All cables must be tested and verified to comply with CAT6 standards. A copy of the certification confirming compliance must be provided by the network installer. All connections in the patch cabinet and outlets must be clearly labelled. Patch cabinets must allow space for a minimum of three additional switches, • Patch Cabinet: The patch cabinet must be positioned, • Cable routes: All cable routes, cable trays, and cable openings, • Remote access: Ensure that an internet connection is available at the patch cabinet, • Illumination: All areas containing simulator equipment, as well as all access ways, must have proper and functional illumination, • Furniture: Supply the simulation hub with furniture that complies with the specifications of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, • Paint work: All paintwork in the simulation hub must be completed. Dark grey is preferred for the Ship’s Bridge rooms, while light grey is recommended for the instructor, debrief and engine simulator rooms to blend with maritime acoustics, • Ceiling height - Full Mission Engine Room: Design the room to resemble a real engine room in order to incorporate an element of physical equipment realism, • Illumination (Black-out) - Full Mission Engine Room: Install a blackout contactor (24V energized) for both normal and emergency lighting, • Construction - Full Mission Engine Room: Install the raised floor and plywood in the engine room. All windows must be covered and the room must be prepared for equipment installation, • Ceiling Height - Generic rooms: All classrooms, the debrief room, the instructor room and the bridges must be equipped with flat maritime acoustic ceiling displays installed at a height of 2400mm, • Illumination - Full Mission Bridge: Install a separate switch to control the lights behind the visual screens in all areas using a projector system for the visual theatre. Additionally, install a dimmer light system inside the bridge cabin and in all rooms equipped with visual displays, • Painting - Full Mission Bridge: Projection rooms equipped with projectors must be painted in a flat dark colour on all walls and the ceiling to minimize reflections, • Ceiling height - Full Mission Bridge: The ceiling height in projection rooms equipped with projectors (visual theatre), • Ceiling mounted Pelorus: Ensure that the ceiling construction for the Pelorus, • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS): Ensure that a UPS is available and operational in all simulator rooms where specified, • Vintage Bridges: Remove all obsolete simulator bridges from the simulator rooms and reinstall them in the hallway, • Cleaning: Ensure that the simulation hub is properly cleaned, tidy such that all access ways are clear and unobstructed, • Removal of rubbish: Ensure that a designated location is provided for the disposal of excess packing material and that this area is cleared upon project completion. Scope of Work: The purpose of this tender is to procure a Professional Service Provider as the Principal Agent for the investigation, design, procurement and construction monitoring for the upgrades to the various ablutions at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which may include, but not be restricted to: • Location of ablutions (Male, Female & Disabled): - Visitors Centre, - Annuals Section, - Arboretum Section, - Gate 2: Visitors Centre, - Rycroft Gate, • The onsite conditional assessment of the existing visitors ablutions, • Provide designs and specifications for the various ablution upgrades, • Act as the Occupational Health & Safety agent on behalf of the client or the duration of the project, • Do a risk assessment during the design stages of the project, • The OHS agent is required to provide the safety specifications for the tender, conduct monthly site audits, attend progress meetings and close-out report, • Execute the project as per the Procap (the procedural guide for clients, engineers and other professionals) work stages 1 to 6 and with all reports approved by the client before continuing to the next stage, • Prepare tender documentation for sourcing services of a contractor(s) to execute the works. Tender documentation shall include drawings, a detailed bill of quantities with cost estimates, construction and project specifications, • Assist the client in the selection process of the contractor by participating in Bid Specification Committee (BSC), Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) and Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC) meetings, as required, • Manage, administer and monitor the works and processes including preparation and coordination of quality control procedures and documentation to facilitate successful completion of the works, in accordance with applicable construction standards and regulatory requirements. Administration of all aspects of the project shall include but are not limited to: - Administer the project on behalf of the client, - Site handover to contractor, - Construction monitoring, - Bi-weekly site , - Issuing of site instructions, - Sign-off of quantities and progress payments, - Issuing of completion certificates (A19 certificate COC, etc.), - Prepare project close-out documentation including as-built drawings, and close-out report meetings with minutes.
