Bids are hereby invited for appointment of a service provider for the supply, installation and delivery of two poly prop canopies, with pumps and hose reels. Specifications: • Supply Polypropylene canopy with an integrated tank, to fit and secure to a standard Toyota Land cruiser, single cab body; • Polypropylene must be minimum of 15 mm thick; • Unit must contain an integrated 600 litre water tank, including adequate baffle plates and overflow ventilation pipe as well as a drain point of 150mm x 150 mm in the bottom end of the rear side wall of the tank. Also included in the rear side wall of the tank must be a glass water level inspection window. The optimal connection to the water pump must include a strainer on the outside of the tank between the tank and the pump inlet; • A standard electric start, twin stage wide skid unit pump, with minimum 9.7 Kw and maximum flow rate of 650 LPM, must be provided and fitted, in order to be consistent with current pumps being used by the department. The electric starter must be connected to the main battery of the vehicle with the necessary short circuit protection; • An aluminium hose reel with 30 meters of 25mm hard hose with Gecka couplings and a dual flow adjustable nozzle must also be provided and fitted; • Pump and hose reel to be fitted on an aluminium chequered base plate behind the half canopy. All plumbing must include shut off valves and a tank fill inlet coupling with another strainer between the inlet coupling and the tank shall also be provided. Pump delivery shall have one delivery connected to the hose reel and the other outlet shall have a standard firefighting, 65 mm quick release instantaneous (British standard) coupling facing to the rear; • Canopy must be provided with lockable doors of aluminium, with gas lifters and high-quality push locks on both side of the vehicle. The canopy will also include LED lighting inside the storage space as well as an LED strip at the back of the canopy, facing the pump and hose reel area. Al lighting must be waterproof, and wiring must be properly fixed and protected from accidental damage; • Overall design must be the same as current poly prop canopy design that is in use at the department. Improvement on current design is allowed but must be fully disclosed in tender documents and is subject to approval by the department; • Provision must be made to store/carry the following equipment: (Shall be provided by the Municipality): a) 20lit jerry can; b) Standard drip torch; c) 2 x bush beaters; d) 2 x standpipes; e) 1 x bar and Key; f) 2 x rake hoes; g) 6 x 25mm forester hoses; h) 1 x large chain saw; i) Space for two set of fire fighting gear - kit bags; • All poly prop exterior surfaces to be spray painted fire engine red.
