Breede Valley Municipality invites quotations from suitably qualifying suppliers (service providers) for the appointment of a Health and Safety Agent. Specifications: The successful company will be required to carry out the following actions, among others: • To always act in close consultation with Municipal Representatives; • To liaise with the Engineer in the drawing up of the HIRA for the designer as per Clause 6 (1) of the CRs; • To advise the Engineer, Designer, and other Consultants in respect of the OHS facets of the design; • To assist the Client in preparing the Project Specific Health and Safety Specification and HIRA for inclusion in the Tender document; • To attend meetings during both the Design and Construction phases as required by the Client; • To evaluate OHS plans provided with the tenders; • To evaluate and approve the successful tenderer’s OHS plan and to report on this to the Client and Engineer; • To assist the client in obtaining permits to work from the Department of Labour if required; • To liaise with the Engineer’s site staff and other consultants; • To visit site, attend site progress meetings and carry out audits on at least a monthly basis; • The site audit, covering both paperwork and site observations must be reported to the OHS Unit Manager as well as the Engineer and Contractor on the standard Departmental Audit form; • To visit site on a separate occasion, once a month, and observe and report on what is happening; • To review any changes in design either by the Engineer or the Contractor; • To ensure that the Principal Contractor is carrying out his OHS duties in respect of the co-contractors; • To maintain liaison with the Contractor being audited and inform him timeously of any infringements of the Act and Regulations; • To work with the Contractor to provide a close out report. To provide report on all audits: • Reviewing the Principal Contractor’s (PC) response to the Specification; • Checking all appointments for compliance with the provisions of the Act and the Regulations; • Reviewing the PC’s Health and Safety Plan for compliance with the Act, Regulations and Specification; • Check all available documentation for emergency planning; • Assessment of the PC’s hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation measures; • Checking on site application of the OHS plan and noting unsafe working practices; • Presentation of reports and findings to Principal Contractor, Engineer and Client. Bids are hereby invited for the following: Supply and install new hot water gas geysers and gas cylinders at Uilenkaalsmond Resort. Specifications: 1. The existing walls around the diesel tank to be removed. Two walls to be built: 8m long, 1.8m high, and 230mm wide – situated on the corners in the boiler room. A solid floor raised 5cm to be laid. A non-flammable roof fitted over. The electrical cable on the wall to be moved out the gas cage; 2. 3 x 1m lockable security gates to be installed to protect the gas cylinders; 3. Plumber to provide sufficient cold water to both geysers and isolate hot water pipe to the men’s and ladies’ ablution facilities. Men’s geyser installed in boiler room. Ladies’ geyser in the ladies disabled toilet, in a lockable box; 4. Provide an emergency backup power inverter to power both geysers for at least four hours. Connect power from the inverter to both geysers; 5. Replace block 1 and block 2 boiler room doors with secure louvered aluminum doors; 6. Repair boiler room roof, clean and paint room; 7. Provide 3 x 3 stainless steel manifold, HP auto changeover regulator, two high demand low pressure regulators, 20m pex pipe, valves and connectors as required to connect two geysers; 8. Provide 2 x 28L Class C internal gas water heaters; 9. Provide 6 x 48kg gas cylinders filled with LPG; 10. Have a fire plan drawing prepared for approval by the fire department before commencement of work; 11. Provide fire extinguisher required for gas fires and protective cover; 12.
