The determined solution must prove to have high efficiency and low cost compared to other methods; 2) Determine a methodology for the optimum conditions for chemical/commodity recovery from the water treatment residue that reduces environmental waste and additional waste streams (compliance with environmental regulations for type 3 waste is important). The water treatment residue must be handled in accordance with environmental regulations; 3) Conduct a detailed economic assessment of the solution indicating the economic feasibility to Rand Water, with a full financial viability report of the proposed solution compared with existing coagulant dosing procedures to determine the cost-benefit; 4) Conduct a full environmental impact assessment of the proposed solution that maximizes the value of the waste stream and minimizes the volume of waste generated. 5) A technical report detailing the full-scale application of the recovery of commodities/chemicals from the WTR clearly quantifying the operational expenditure (OPEX) for full-scale recovery.
