Extension of Closing Date: Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd (“Eskom”) invites you to submit an expression of interest for the following: Procurement, supply, installation and commissioning of horizontal floor boring mill machine, Siemens control Sinumerik 840DSL, latest version thereof including rotary table, facing head, milling functions with relevant attachments, operator pendant housing the machine screen control panel and a service for a period of 36 months at TGS Rosherville Works. Eskom is faced with the ageing and ailing fleet of power stations which require extensive and innovative maintenance approach to refurbishment of the components of the turbine and generator sets. This, in turn, requires, a turnkey project to procure, supply, install and commission including training for operating and maintenance personnel, of the technologically advanced versatile horizontal floor boring milling CNC machine with Siemens control Sinumerik 840DSL, latest version thereof, which is capable of having multiple components set in series on its machine floor bed, with universal D’ Andre head for multiple angles and positions for indexing including four sided setting rotary table with T- slots face hence multifunctional with various milling attachments of latest technological state of the art capabilities, like long travel span, multiple axis CNC horizontal floor boring milling machine with CNC Siemens controls, to machine to desired sizes, various turbine components like casings, mill drums, girth gears, crusher frames, diaphragms, valves nozzles, blade carriers, steam chests, flanges and other various components of similar nature. Various Eskom components for various power stations need to be refurbished during the shutdown for returning to the unit or for use as a spare for the next shutdown, thus this refurbishment requires to be done in a shortest possible span of time hence the need for a faster, versatile, and programmable CNC horizontal floor boring milling machine with multiple axis and multiple attachments for various activities like milling, facing, grinding and boring/drilling capabilities from a horizontal position of the spindle. During refurbishment the components get welded to build-up various landings or landings need to be reduced to fit the interfacing part thereof, thus necessitate machining of the component to be machined to desired sizes. This requires to be done using a machine that is agile and capable of machining multiple landings and quickly do other various activities as required like machining coupling faces, coupling holes and back faces of coupling holes spot faces for bolts/nuts flat landings, reference bands on the couplings circumferences, reaming, drilling, facing, grinding etc. Source: ONLINE TENDERS

Extension of Closing Date: Expressions of Interest/Information are hereby requested for the following: Procurement of Robotic Welding System. Eskom is faced with the ailing fleet of power stations which requires extensive and innovative maintenance. This, in turn, requires advanced repair methods, like robotic welding, to build-up the Rotor journals, casing’s locating landings, valves locating landings and other related components, to design sizes. Eskom Rotor journals (Kriel, Duvha, Majuba, and Tutuka LP’s) were previously machined to correct mechanical damage (grooves) and wearing that had occurred during operations. Machining of these journals resulted in substandard journals, and thereby limiting the interchangeability of the rotor within the same fleet. Therefore, the solution to this problem is to weld build the journals to design sizes. Humans are not completely removed from the usage of robotic welding systems. To use a robotic welding unit, programs are inputted via the teach pendant and saved to the controller, telling the robot what to do. These programs move the welding robot and dictate the movement of the torch on the end of its arm, placing it exactly where it needs to perform tasks. Robotic welding needs to be supervised constantly and maintained by a trained operator or someone certified for this skill. The rotor will have to be coupled to a rotating table and secured on the rollers to aid with the rotation during welding. The robot is programmed to follow a certain path to weld. A short calibration (integration) of the rotating rotor and the robot is performed. Welding commenced when the electrode reaches the required position.
